The Burgdorfs' Web Site: Photo Gallery

Here you'll find the requisite family pictures. (What's a family Web site without pictures, right?) Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately?), I've never really been much into photography. Heck, recently, it seems the only time I do take pictures is when I realize I'm overdue to update the Web site! So the pickings are a bit slim.

Anyway, to see the full-size images, just click on the thumbnails.

2009

In June, I finally took some pictures again specifically so that I could update the Web site. (What did I say, just above?) You've got Cassandra (who now prefers to go by Dan), Carl and Deirdre individually, all three of the kids together, and then Joy and me. Some day, we'll actually get another professional family portrait taken.... Following those pictures is a shot of the River City Mixed Chorus from our June concert, "Silver." I'm at the far right of the picture, in the back row.

2008

Hmm. It's a bit embarrasing to admit, but we actually took no pictures of any significance during the entirety of calendar year 2008....

2006 - 2007

|| 2006|| 2007||

At the beginning of summer, 2006, I finally dug out the digital camera to take some pictures of the kids with which to update the gallery. (Sound familiar?) Here you see a few of them. In September, we decided it was finally time to get a new "official" family portrait, but enlisted the aid of a friend who, as it turns out, isn't really a photographer. The picture here, believe it or not, is the best we managed. (You really wouldn't want to see the other pictures from the set.) Next, from our trip to New York City in November, is a picture of the kids in front of the Stonewall, famed site of the '69 riots that sparked the modern GLBT civil rights movement. From June of 2007, we have a picture of Cassandra and me from the "It Takes a Rainbow Village" concert performed by the River City Mixed Chorus with the assistance of a youth chorus in which both Cassandra and Deirdre participated. And from November, we have a couple of pictures from our trip to Nashville, where we were visiting my father and Sandie, my new step-mother.

2004 - 2005

|| 2004|| 2005||

First, we have the picture of the family that appeared in the Omaha World-Herald in August of 2004. Then, "before" and "after" pictures of Cassandra, who decided to cut her hair short just before school started. (She later decided to grow it back, and then, at the end of the '06-'07 school year, got it cut short again.) Following those, we have the kids' school pictures from their last year in the Catholic school system. (It should be noted that these pictures were already out of date, so to speak, within a month, as both Cassandra and Carl started wearing glasses.) We then have a picture of Carl with his summer 2005 haircut, a mohawk, and a picture from June of 2005 of us carrying the PFLAG banner in Omaha's Pride Parade. (This was our second Pride Parade, by the way, and the second of three in which we as a family carried the PFLAG banner. These days, I march with the River City Mixed Chorus, Joy and Deirdre march with Metropolitan Community Church of Omaha, Cassandra plays with the band on the church float, and Carl typically stays home and plays on the computer. And yes, Omaha Pride Parades do draw crowds; this picture just happened to be taken toward the beginning of the route, before we got to where spectators were waiting.)

2000 - 2003

|| 2000|| 2001|| 2002|| 2003||

We start here with a picture from the fall of 2000 of Deirdre (with family friend Elizabeth Norton), showing off the black eye that earned her the nickname "Mouse." Following that are our 2001 family photos. Yes, I was bald; I had decided to shave my head in June, and Joy and I both liked the look. (I finally stopped shaving and let my hair grow back early in 2006.) Then comes an amazingly well timed picture of Cassandra's first board break (July 29, 2002). Finally, we have our last "formal" annual photo, from 2002, and the kids' school photos from the fall of 2003.

1996 - 1999

The first picture here is from our annual Easter visit to Nashville in 1996, and features Darryl's parents, Donald and Diana Burgdorf. The other pictures are from our next four annual Christmas family photo shoots. The 1997 family portrait, of course, is the first to feature Deirdre, who at the time the picture was taken was about seven months old.

1992 - 1995

|| 1992|| 1993|| 1994|| 1995||

The first picture is from our wedding (June 12, 1992). The second is from our first "formal" family photo shoot, just a month after Cassandra's birth. The third is of Cassandra (age five months) with her "nana," Joy's mother, Anne Mullen. And finally, we have a Christmas family portrait from 1995, featuring the two week-old Carl.
