Appearance: About 5" 5", slender build.
Nimue has long dark-brown hair. Her eyes are brown with flecks
of green-gold in them. She is classically beautiful and refined
in her manner.
Family Background: Nimue was born into
one of the oldest wizarding families legendarily established
during the 'Arthurian Age' by the union between Merlin and Nimue,
the Lady of the Lake. She is an only child.
During the last seven years Nimue had been living
abroad with her parents who were undertaking research in Europe
into Renaissance magical culture. The recent death of her grandfather
meant her father needed to return to England to take up his
title and responsibilities. She entered Hogwarts as a Third
Year and had been privately tutored prior to this.
Nimue's father, now Lord Emrys Hawkwood, inherited
with his title the hereditary headship of the chivalric Order
of Merlin. Although this Order has a symbolic outward function
concerned with the recognition of services to the wizarding
world, it has also a deeper function linked with the subtle
balance of magical energies linked to the Land of Britain and
the Otherworld. Her mother Viviane, is a muggle-born witch from
a family that has shared an awareness and empathy with the wizarding
world for a number of centuries.
Talents/Special Abilities: Nimue is a model
student taking her studies seriously and is highly regarded
by her teachers. She has recently become Third Year Prefect for Gryffindor House.
Aware that one-day she will inherit her father's
position and responsibilities, Nimue is seeking to understand
the nature of her magical destiny.
She has already discovered an ability
to communicate with tree spirits (dryads) and is able to exercise
what Professor Dumbledore has described as 'an influence' upon
the Forest and its creatures. Described herself in a moment of oracular awareness as a Priestess of Diana and Guardian of the Green Flame of Albion.
Her attention to detail and maturity led Professor
Severus Snape to adopt her as an assistant on a part-time basis. It may also have occurred due to an undisclosed connection between Snape and Emrys Hawkwood. Snape was mentioned in passing as having been 'one of her godfathers' at some mysterious ceremony. However, this is not known to Nimue.

by her privileged background Nimue is a quiet and serious young
woman though has been known to exhibit a fiery temper when crossed
and has a stubborn streak.
Marcus Falconer, a young wizard in the service
of her Father, had watched over Nimue while she is at Hogwarts last year.
During her first term he remained disguised in his animagus
form as a falcon. His cover blown by the events at Christmas,
he now assists Professor McGonagall with Transfiguration classes
while continuing to oversee Nimue's safety. Over the summer he has decided to return to his duties in London.
On her arrival at Hogwarts Nimue became reacquainted
with Malcolm (Marvo) D. Ward, her childhood playmate. Mid-way
through the autumn term Marvo and Nimue were informed that their
families had negotiated an arranged marriage between them for
political reasons. Both Nimue and Marvo didn't want this to happen and appealed to Nimue's Father to have the betrothal
dissolved before they come of age. They were successful in this appeal.
In January, Nimue fell in love with a young teacher at Hogwarts and the feelings were reciprocated though both parties were deeply troubled by this given the circumstances of their situation . However, she believed from the start was that this was a relationship marked by destiny. Subsequent events have appeared to bear this out. He is no longer teaching at the school as a result of this.
